Standard components of a pallet racking systems include upright frames and shelf cross beams. The upright frame consists of two steel columns welded together by diagonal and horizantal lacing channels. Pallet rack frames have beam connecting holes in the front facing side of the column and often have a accessory holes on the sides of the columns. Standard rack shelf cross beams are made of roll formed steel with widths ranging from 2 1/2" - 6" heights. Rack cross beams have ear connectors on each end that embrace the upright and lock into place creating a stable shelf. The locking mechanism on the beam is known as the pallet rack safety clip. These clips vary from manufactuer to manufactuere but most all pallet rack systems have some sort of locking mechanism besides the ear connector to ensure safety. Optional accessories include: pallet rack wire mesh decking, row spacers, frame column protectors, safety crossbars, and wall ties.
